Niagara Cycling Tours Featured Photo - South Carolina

Our featured photo comes to us from the subtropical beaches and marsh-like sea islands of South Carolina. Our cycling friend, Kevin Koth (Instagram @kat3kev) shares his story.

It was my first year racing with the University of Central Florida, and our cycling escapades took us to South Carolina for a South Eastern Collegiate Cycling Conference (SECCC) race. It was my first experience riding outside of Florida, and even though we were racing at high end speeds, I was thoroughly enjoying the different terrain and scenery that South Carolina had to offer.

After the race, I remember thinking how bogged down people can get with the stresses of their daily lives. They forget to pause and look around to witness the picturesque beauty that is in sight.  Remember that views by bike far exceed views by car. I decided to take this picture during our post race cool down ride to remind myself how incredibly lucky us cyclists are to be able enjoy the sport and take in scenic views that only the cycling world can put before our eyes.

Stylish Cyclists

Came across this great post and thought I would share. "The 25 Most Stylish Cyclists of All Time" boasts some modern day males and females that define the phrase "cycling style" as well as the vintage, legendary riders that paved their paths.

Happy St. Patrick's Day my fellow friends and cyclists.

I just wanted to drop a quick post regarding our featured photo opportunity with Niagara Cycling Tours. If you have a photo that you have captured that is unique, timeless or in the moment we would love to hear from you and place your photo and story on our blog. Looking Beyond the Niagara Winter Storm

This past winter seemed all too sweet. Very little snow, dry roads and unseasonably warm temperatures gave some cyclists in the Niagara Region the perfect opportunity to bust out the old beater bike and take a few rides. I definitely took advantage and yes, some rides were cold and windy but riding at a leisurely pace during the winter months, well, there is nothing better.

As the months rolled over, March quickly arrived and the cycling season was in reach. I figure March Break would be an excellent time to get on the road while I am off, but then shit hit the fan. I sit in the confines of my living room typing this post between the endless shoveling trips and all I can think about is the wasted chance at riding this break and how Mother Nature got us good.

But, to make light of the situation, we aren't that far off and before you know it, we will be riding into the summer sunsets in the Niagara Region. I thought I would share a few stunning shots of what the region has to offer while riding with Niagara Cycling Tours. It's a little something to help shun the white stuff and refocus our minds to what is ahead for us and our two wheeled friends.

As always, comments are welcome. Thank you to Andrew Fisher Photography for the fantastic photos of our region.

Ride to Conquer Cancer: A Welland Trio's Goal

In Niagara, the cycling season has, unfortunately, been delayed. Mother Nature has dropped a load of snow, but for a local trio, that hasn't stopped their desire to achieve a goal they set out last year.

The spring and summer of 2017 brings forth a unique challenge for three local cyclists and very good friends of mine who will embark on a journey only a few have accomplished. As part of Team Teal Power, Ryan Nava, Nat Mastroianni, and Rob Rotella have begun their training regiment and fundraising campaign for the 2017 edition of The Ride to Conquer Cancer.  They hope to raise money and awareness for this very worthy cause, and everyone can lend a helping hand.

As everyone knows, this month brings March Madness and the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament held all over the United States. This trio is running a basketball pool with a small portion of your entry fee going to their campaign. Here are some details.

Brackets are back and I've started a pool, Teal Power, on CBSSports.com. Join now before the tournament starts so we can compete all of March Madness! $20 gets you in - All you have to do is pick the winners! Enter more than once if you want and a pread the word to your friends! A portion of proceeds ($5 each entry) will benefit Team Tealpower as Rob Rotella, Ryan Nava and myself will be riding the 2017 Ride to Conquer Cancer with them! Money can be etransfered to myself at nmastri@hotmail.com or pay one of us in person. Thanks in advance for helping this great cause and best of luck to all!

Please click here to enter a team and help this very worthy cause.

Good luck to Ryan, Nat and Rob as they Ride to Conquer Cancer this coming June. We are all cheering you on.
